VAIVA from A to Z – H

Theresa Ley,

We want to bring VAIVA closer. From our technologies to our work environment, we present the most important topics with VAIVA from A to Z.

H for Human Body Models

Vehicle safety means protecting people. This applies not only to vehicle occupants, but also to pedestrians or other road users outside. In order to be able to provide the best possible protection even in an accident, the injury risks for various body regions must be included in the construction and development of vehicles.

Human Body Models are designed to make this possible. Various virtual human body models, from anatomical differences in women, men, and children to different body sizes, support the development of restraint systems. Taking into account individual injury risks can increase protection against serious accident consequences in combination with intelligent safety systems.

Our research publications with the application of HBMs are already influencing the vehicle design and pedestrian safety realm:

Numerical investigations on the factors affecting thorax injuries in vehicle vs pedestrian accidents: https://stapp.org/1515/

Effect of the Lower Limb Muscles on the Knee Lateral Bending and Medial Collateral Ligament’s Elongation during Vehicle – Pedestrian Impacts: https://www.ircobi.org/wordpress/downloads/irc21/pdf-files/2118.pdf

And H for Heart

Whatever we do, we do it with heart and passion. Codes, processes and regulations may sometimes seem dry, but there is a big goal behind them: saving lives. Knowing that our technologies and innovations help to make mobility safer, that our friends, family and acquaintances are protected, as are many millions of other people on the road – that is our motivation and reason enough to get up every morning and put our heart and soul into our daily work.

But we also put our heart and passion into the interpersonal relationships in our teams. Because together we achieve our goals faster and better. Considering different perspectives from the outset, learning from and supporting each other is part of teamwork for us.

And where else can you combine heart and passion with fun if not at team events, Christmas parties and summer festivals? Creating a great atmosphere, getting to know colleagues on a personal level and working together in a respectful and tolerant way.

All of this characterizes VAIVA – our work and us as a team.
